Whangarei Garden Discovery
Whangarei Garden Discovery is held over three days
Friday 14 February, Saturday 15 February and Sunday 16 February, 2014.
LOOKING FOR SWEET TALL POPPIES
Gardens are being sought for Whangarei Garden Discovery 2014’s sweet event!
Attractive gardens - whether works in progress, newly planted or well established, in Whangarei town, along the route from Tikipunga to Ngunguru or between One Tree Point and Waipu – are being sought for the Garden Discovery committee to consider for their next event.
The committee would like to hear from garden owners, or someone who knows a garden and will nominate it - if gardeners won’t be tall poppies and nominate themselves!
Every two years this popular weekend delights local and visiting gardeners who are inspired by Whangarei District’s subtropical summer beauty and helps raise funds for The Whangarei Quarry Gardens. Proceeds of $20,000 from the 2012 event were donated to the Whangarei Quarry Gardens (recently assessed as a “Garden of Significance” by the NZ Gardens Trust) for their Visitor’s Centre Building Fund.
The dates for 2014 have just been established and will be over the Valentine’s weekend of February 14, 15 and 16.
Please ring Nadine Whitton on (09) 436-2909 or Sandra Wheeler on (09) 435 0007 or email info@gardendiscovery.org.nz with gardens to be considered.
